British Night Championships 2018 - Saturday 24 February

Nick Silk, Organiser, British Night Championships 2018, says:

"The British Night Orienteering Championships were held in the delightful surroundings of Merthyr Mawr dunes in South Wales. It was a bright sunny day with a chill wind, and many took the opportunity to explore the surrounding area. By the time of the first starts the wind had died down and although it was cold, it was a beautiful starlit night for orienteering. The courses were challenging but fair and there were excellent races in all the age classes. Well done Roger Stein (Swansea Bay Orienteering Club) for planning and Charles Daniel (Bristol Orienteering Klub) for controlling – a top team.

The environment in the main hut was cheery and fun - it was great to see competitors of such a wide age range and from across the UK. The view from the top of the plateau across the area with a few hundred head-torches weaving in and out of the dunes was a sight to behold!

I hope all of the competitors enjoyed competing as much as we enjoyed hosting."

Congratulations to all who took part.
