British Orienteering to launch new online training

British Orienteering are pleased to announce a new pilot training programme providing three interactive sessions delivered through the online webinar format. The sessions will cover three very different areas initially with presentations in Coaching, Planning and Developing Clubs.

Peter Brooke, Development Officer explained: “Following the volunteer consultation earlier this year, members clearly identified that an appropriate form of easily accessible training in a variety of areas would be of real benefit. This suggestion then developed into an online webinar training programme providing easy access to training when the sessions are live or afterwards at a time to suit them.”

Each session will be between 45 and 60 minutes long, free to view and members will just need to register prior to obtain log in details. Additionally, whilst the session is live, there will be the opportunity to ask questions via the webinar function to really get involved.

Peter continued, “This is a really exciting pilot programme and we’ve been lucky enough to be able to launch with three important areas within volunteering being delivered by some excellent presenters with vast experience in orienteering.”

Hilary Palmer will be leading the Coaching session which will take place towards the end of August, with the second session, Planning taking place in September and Developing Clubs in October. The sessions will then be reviewed with all feedback welcomed to help tailor a programme for 2019.

Further details will be announced in due course.
