Get up to Speed: Orienteering Skills Videos produced by South London Orienteers

Sport England awarded South London Orienteers a grant of £3,850 towards the cost of a project to help teenagers develop the orienteering skills needed for more technical courses.

As part of this project, South London Orienteers have produced a series of eight videos showing different techniques used in orienteering. The videos are presented by different athletes from the GB Orienteering team and filmed in different locations. The aim of the series is to help juniors deal with more technically demanding courses, but these films can also be used to show beginners how to get started in our sport. Each video focuses on a specific orienteering skill.

One video per week will be launched South London Orienteers' YouTube channel each Friday at 5 pm during January and February. The 5-minute videos are designed to be downloaded to phones or tablets. The video release is linked to races and coaching sessions taking place across the South East: watch a film, focus on a technique and have a successful run.

The whole series will be available on South London Orienteers' YouTube channel. We hope clubs and associations will be able to use the videos at their own coaching events and other development initiatives.
