2019 World Orienteering Day was a huge success!

World Orienteering Day was a great success with 398,712 participants across the world taking part – achieving a new world record this year!

Here in the UK, it was great to see so many orienteering clubs, schools and groups registering their events on the world map and supporting the International Orienteering Federation’s World Orienteering Day. The UK saw a staggering 224 events taking place across the week here in the UK achieving a fantastic target of 11,572 participants joining in the fun of World Orienteering Day.

Some clubs and schools put on even more than one event which was great – and here in the UK we also achieved the biggest record of participants taking part in World Orienteering Day, across the week of 15 – 21 May this year, so far!

Thank you for your support in helping us to spread the word about our fantastic sport.

If you haven’t done so already, please remember to register your participant numbers on the World map so that this figure can increase even further. You can do this by emailing your participation figures to:  jtaylor@britishorienteering.org.uk who will arrange to upload them on your behalf.
