'Be More Cheetah' will take to the stage at Development Conference

British Orienteering is pleased to announce another key presenter for the National Development Conference. Steve Fairhurst from ‘Be More Cheetah’ will take centre stage on the Sunday, with a presentation and workshop all around club promotion and social media.

Steve has 30 years’ experience in marketing, working for agencies such as MDA, The Marketing Store and Dialogue Communications before forming The Zest Collective Group of companies in the year 2000. Clients include Coca Cola, Shell, Heineken, Mercedes-Benz and the NHS.

Steve specialises in ‘the sharp end’ of marketing – where the customer meets the brand directly and has a unique take on the social media landscape and how best to present your brand for maximum effect using tried and tested techniques.

The sharp end of marketing

With a pragmatic and energising approach to training, the session is sure to be engaging and empowering – dealing with simple practical steps on how to generate results quickly, rather that wading through statistics and broad theories.

The session is designed around the 2020 programme of events and is aimed at clubs and group admins for regional association members. Learn the winning ways of the world’s biggest brands and make sure your social media content is as engaging as it can be.

Peter Brooke added:  "Having attended one of Steve’s training sessions first-hand, it was an easy decision to invite him to present to clubs at the conference. His insight, advice and ideas are easy to understand and will prove invaluable to clubs looking to learn and improve in this area."

The conference also takes in ways to increase and support your orienteers, club publicity, club projects you can adapt for your own club alongside further discussion on the youth strategy.

Taking place over the weekend of Saturday 11th  and Sunday 12th  January 2020, the conference will be taking place at the YHA National Forest, Swadlincote, near Burton on Trent and has secured exclusive use of the venue. This will allow members to stay overnight with fellow orienteers to really add the social atmosphere and providing an excellent opportunity for networking.
