Last weekend saw the Lockdown Orienteering Easter Champs

Last weekend saw the Lockdown Orienteering Easter Champs - a virtual orienteering competition created to provide some orienteering fun whilst real orienteering has been cancelled.

Nearly 500 competitors from over 20 countries around the world took part in a variety of challenges from picking the best routechoice to orienteering virtually around the city of Chester using Google Streetview.

The overall winner was Casper Skeep from Sweden with the top British participant being Andrew Stemp of Airenteers.

GB Squad member Chris Smithard who coordinated the event said:  "It was certainly a lot of work but definitely worth the effort! I just want to say a special thank you to Graham Gristwood, Craig Nolan, Katherine Bett and Simon Errington for their help at such late notice. Hopefully we can take what we learnt from this one and make the next even better!'

You can find out more about the event by reading the report on the website and have a go at some of the stages yourself to see what it was all about.  The organisers of this event will be putting on another one in just under two weeks time.

LOCKDOWN ORIENTEERING CONTINUES FROM YOUR SOFA!
