Big Entry for 37th CompassSport Cup Final

The CompassSport Cup Final on Sunday 17 October 2021, hosted by South Yorkshire Orienteers (SYO), at Hesley and Tankersley, Sheffield, has attracted over 800 entries from 24 clubs, 10 in the Cup and 14 in the Trophy competition. Moravian Orienteers are the furthest competing teams making an 850-mile round trip to compete.

Forth Valley has a strong team of 69 competitors keen to retain the Cup competition but will be pushed by home team South Yorkshire with 120 entries.

In the Trophy competition West Midland team Harlequins will be hoping the retain the Trophy but can expect a strong challenge from East Pennine, Interlopers, and South Ribble.

How fast can you run 150 metres? One feature of the event is the Golden Boot challenge. This is awarded for the overall fastest split time between the last control and the finish. There is a trophy for the fastest man and a trophy for the fastest woman.

The weather forecast is dry, the forest set to provide a good navigational challenge, Nick Lightfoot has recruited a commentary team to keep you informed and entertained and South Yorkshire Orienteers has been working hard to provide an enjoyable day having only taken on hosting the Final in early September.
