Orienteering is an exciting adventure sport suitable for all ages and abilities

Orienteering involves working your way around an orienteering map as efficiently as possible, using your skills at reading the map, and making sense of what you can see around you. It can be anything you want, from a gentle recreation to a fast-running international sport.

Orienteering can take place anywhere from the streets of Central London to the wilds of the Scottish Highlands and everywhere in between including forests, parks, moorland, town centres, school playgrounds, and university campuses.  There are over 500 fabulous Permanent and Virtual Orienteering Courses to try in your own time, at your own pace.  There are also events and activities put on by our welcoming Orienteering clubs across the UK who will be more than happy to help advise you on how you can easily get started.

The aim is for participants to navigate their way between a series of checkpoints (controls) shown on a map.  There's no set route, you find your own way around using the map.

To find out more on how you can get started find your local club here.
