The JK 2022 proved to be a great event and definitely worth the wait!

The Easter weekend was enjoyed by Orienteers from near and far when they arrived in South Wales for the return of the much-awaited JK International Festival of Orienteering.

Andy Yeates, JK 2022 Coordinator says:
"I received the first plaudit on Monday evening for the truly magnificent beast that was JK 2022. I am over the moon at how all the officials and volunteer helpers performed over the Easter weekend. Please join me in thanking them for putting up with all the hard work and anguish due to the many problems we have had to face these past three years of planning. Their selfless dedication is humbling. The original intention was to have all areas close together near Swansea. Losing five areas, the last in December 2021, scuppered that. Yet we have come out of it with what should be regarded as one of the best JK’s ever. Great areas. Great weather. Great people.

I hope the author will forgive me for using their quote, but it wonderfully sums up the weekend...

“Just a short note to thank everyone concerned with JK2022. An amazing logistical achievement, the weather helped to make this a magical weekend.”

Thanks go to Graham and Liz Urquhart, who must have worked for very many hours planning and setting out excellent courses for both days. They were well supported by Ben Mitchell, JK mapper, who produced two very-clear maps for the two competitions.

British Orienteering would like to thank the Welsh Orienteering Association and surrounding clubs and volunteers for all their hard work in organising an event of this scale.  Thank you for putting on a great competition and a great long weekend of exciting orienteering for all to enjoy!
