World Orienteering Day (WOD) is a project of the International Orienteering Federation to increase the visibility and accessibility of orienteering worldwide.
This year, between the dates Wednesday, May 11 and Tuesday 17 May 2022, any orienteering activity held can be registered as a World Orienteering Day event.
It is great to see from the World Map that there will be World Orienteering Day events taking place in the UK.
Don’t miss out! OCAD is one of World Orienteering Day’s partners and they are offering a free OCAD Starter Licence for those who register for a WOD event. The licences will run until August 2022.
OCAD Starter does not only include the Course Setting Module, but also the New Map Wizard, with which you can create an orienteering map anywhere in the world with just a few clicks.
You can find out how to create orienteering maps with the World Orienteering Day Tutorial.
Register your event now and become a part of WOD!
For clubs and schools...Important to please note…
This is not done automatically, once you have preregistered an event you need to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org asking for a free licence. A check will be done if you have preregistered your WOD event, so it is recommended that your club or school send the email from the email address that you filled in when you preregistered.
Once you have sent the email to email@example.com the licence will be sent to you.
For more information visit the WOD / OCAD link here. From this page there is a link to register your club’s WOD event information – it’s very simple, you register, then give your event a location and name and that’s that.
Register an event for WOD here and get a free OCAD licence for your club to use until August.
Club Fixture Secretaries please note…
Please ensure when you are uploading your club events to the British Orienteering events listing on the British Orienteering website that you reference the event to World Orienteering Day, for example, please include either “World Orienteering Day” or “WOW” or “WOD” in the event title so that your club is included in the national promotion of World Orienteering Day / Week.
