Three different courses in South Achray Forest, Aberfoyle starting from the bridleway gate out of Dounans Camp.
You can park in Aberfoyle public parking and walk along the old railway, east, out of the village. After the playpark, cross the main road (take care!) and walk up the track to Dounans Camp (the track through the middle is a public right of way). 1km from the car park to start point.
Easy Course - 1.75km - for families and young children
Moderately Difficult Course - 2.1km - Slightly more challenging technically & physically
Difficult Course - 2.8km - Physically and technically challenging with route choice options to go straight through the forest!
Other Things to do in the Area
Dounans Camp is a charity run outdoor education centre with lots of activities available - see their website for details: www.soec.org.uk
There's a play park on the edge of Aberfoyle, plenty of cafes in the village and the Woollen Mill in the car park has a play area, cafe and shop!
Why not take a detour on your course and go check out the waterfalls or visit The Lodge Forest Visitor Centre (also on your map) to use the facilities, visitor attractions, cafe or Go-Ape.
