Middle Distance Races ⬥ Saturday 27th March 2027

Ambersham Common

Overview

Ambersham Common consists of mix of woodland and heathland with patches of wetland. Fast running and areas of contour complexity make for an ideal Middle race venue. Amongst other events it was previously used for the JK Middle Race in 2017.

Location

Ambersham Common is situated approximately 3 km east of Midhust in Sussex

Travel

By Car

The event car park will be signposted from the Halfway Bridge junction on the A272 4.5km east of Midhurst. Take care turning off the main road, especially from the west as traffic can be fast. It is then a further 2km to the parking field, along narrow roads. You must arrive before 12:00 and leave after 12:00.

Halfway Bridge junction:

  • ///what3words sues.caressing.interest
  • OS grid ref SU930219
  • Nearest post code GU28 9BP

Do not attempt to approach the area by any other route. Other routes are even narrower than this one, and the route from the south crosses courses, the route to Starts and the main pedestrian route between parking and Arena!

The Arena field is across the road from the parking field, 200-500m to Arena from where you park. The road crossing will be marshalled.

Vehicles wider than 2.8m cannot be accommodated.

By Train

There is no convenient railway station for Ambersham Common. Bus 60 from Chichester station to Midhurst stops in West Lavington, 3k from the arena. Email the organiser for a walking route in avoiding the embargoed area, or ask another club member for a lift from a convenient point.

Embargo

The embargoed area may be seen on the map here

Starts

There are 2 starts, 700-1000m from the arena. There will be a single toilet near callup for WRE runners.

Finish

This will be in the Arena and is the same for all courses. There will be room for club tents either side of the run in.

The map is to ISOM 2017-2 IOF Specification, unless otherwise stated.
