Job Vacancy - Performance Pathway

Over the last 18 months, we have been working on a review of the Performance Pathway, from clubs through to the elite level, including a full stakeholder engagement. We had a very good engagement with the membership, including both the athletes and those associated with the current structure. On behalf of British Orienteering, I would like to thank all of you that have contributed towards this.

The key areas that we will address in the new structure are:

  • Developing a coherent joined-up Performance Pathway that reflects a shared vision, understood and bought into by all those involved – volunteers and professionals alike.
  • Encouraging more and better training consistently at the club and regional levels.
  • Widening the pool of athletes supported at level 3 and reducing the pressure and demands (e.g. travel time) time on those that are involved
  • Providing support for athletes in their junior to senior transition
  • Making sure Athlete welfare is at the heart of how the Performance Pathway operates

Second chance to organise a World Orienteering Day event: 8 - 14 September

Calling all Clubs, Schools and Community Youth Groups!

The countdown is on for the second World Orienteering Day is all set to take place from the 8 - 14 September 2021.   Are you prepared?

This year due to the pandemic the decision by the International Orienteering Federation (IOF) was taken to hold two events.  The first set of events ran between the 19 and the 25 of May 2021 which was the first opportunity for organising a World Orienteering Day event in 2021.

The International Orienteering Federation is now encouraging clubs, schools and community groups to put on World Orienteering Day events from
8 - 14 September 2021.

There are a wide range of free event and promotional materials on the International Orienteering Federations (IOF's) World Orienteering Day website such as flyers, posters, certificates, start cards and banners which are also free to download and use throughout the week - and can be downloaded here.

SPORTident, as the exclusive timing partner of World Orienteering Day, has once again improved its offer to WOD organisers. All WOD organisers will use the SPORTident Orienteering App and its results platform free of charge. The type of competition does not matter: from flag orienteering to maze orienteering to running with orienteering map and compass.
