Some fiendishly difficult legs early on in the course led to time losses for many of the athletes, who had difficulty navigating on a large, vague slope.
In the men’s race, Luke Fisher was the only GB athlete in the A final, and he had a good run to finish in 46th place.
In the B final, Alasdair Pedley, on his World Cup debut, came back from the disappointment of the qualification race to have a solid run and take a decent lead early on, eventually finishing in 30th place. He was joined by Charlie Rennie in 29th and Peter Molloy in 31st, with Josh Dudley the highest placed GRB athlete in the men’s B final, in 17th place.
Alasdair said "I am pretty happy. The first four controls were quite hard but was happy to get to those without losing too much time! I'm really looking forward to the Middle."
In the women’s A final, Jo Shepherd was first home in 22nd place and her highest World Cup finish to date, with Grace Molloy was not far behind in 29th.
Jo Shepherd said of her strong run in the Womens A-Final: "I really enjoyed the course today. Some bits were quite challenging and I'm very excited about my race but was a bit frustrated about the 8th control, but apart from that it was a good solid race for me. It was my best World Cup result so far."
In the B final, Chloe Potter was the first British woman home in 12th, with Alison Smithard in 15th and Rachel Brown in 21st.
Tomorrow the World Cup athletes will have a rest day and celebrate Swedish midsummer, before the World Cup round continues with Middle Distance on Saturday.
