British Orienteering

British Orienteering's new University & Access Officer

25 July 2025

British Orienteering is thrilled to welcome Gracie Grant to British Orienteering as she steps into a vital new role focused on shaping the future of orienteering within higher education and supporting clubs working with key partners to improve access for events across the country.

Gracie’s university focus will involve gaining a deep understanding of the current landscape of the sport across universities and identifying opportunities to foster both new and sustained participation.

Gracie will be instrumental in strengthening connections with higher education institutions, existing orienteers and local clubs in supporting the creation of engaging student events, and leading initiatives that inspire more young adults to get involved in orienteering.

Additionally, she will play a key role in promoting responsible access to land and advocating for sustainable use of the natural environment—ensuring the sport remains inclusive, accessible, and environmentally conscious. Gracie will be working closely with clubs and national partners to manage issues ensuring orienteering maintains access to areas across the UK.

With her passion for participation and the outdoors and track record of success in growing sports clubs during her time at Loughborough University, Gracie brings tremendous energy and enthusiasm to the role. We’re excited to see the positive impact she’ll make and warmly welcome her to the British Orienteering team!
