Parents & carers play a HUGE role in helping your child shine in sport.
Whether they’re just starting out or chasing podium places, your support makes all the difference.
Here are a couple of ideas on how to keep your child thriving in orienteering.
If you are new here, or have only recently become a member with your family, there are a few routes you can take to get your child into orienteering.
Some clubs offer their junior members development programs, which enable them to improve their orienteering skills and most importantly, encourage juniors to stay within the sport. Visit your local club's website to discover more ways they can support your child.

Your child looks up to you. Make sure that you are cheering them on throughout their orienteering journey, especially when it comes to competitions!
Orienteering can be competitive, and the more your child advances, the more difficult it can be to keep it fun like it was when they started out. Encourage them to take advantage of social opportunities with other junior orienteers and enjoy the thrill of the sport.
It is all of our duty to ensure that we report anything we see that is a cause for concern. If you need to familiarise yourself with how to report an incident or concern, please visit our safeguarding page.
