Supporting Clubs Through Sport Welfare Officers

28 November 2025

Have you heard of Sport England Welfare Officers? Did you know they can provide free support to orienteering clubs across the UK?

In a recent webinar, Welfare Officers Measha Harris, Christopher Timmins, Richard Steele, together with British Orienteering Partnerships Manager Kay Hawke, explained the many ways they can help clubs thrive.

They can:

  • Offer guidance on recruiting and supporting new volunteers
  • Provide safeguarding advice tailored to the unique nature of orienteering
  • Connect your club with local community groups and networks
  • Share practical ideas for promoting your events and reaching new audiences

Because orienteering has its own distinctive challenges, the webinar goes into detail about considerations unique to our sport.

You can watch the full session now on the British Orienteering YouTube channel.
