Update on GBR selection processes

Over the next few months, GBR teams will be selected to compete in summer internationals, at both junior and senior level. Please read on for important information about the team selection process.

Availability - anyone who wishes to be considered for GBR team selection must complete an availability form. Full details and deadlines are listed in the 2026 selection policy.

World Universities (WUOC) eligibility - athletes who wish to be considered for WUOC must, in addition to the British Orienteering availability form, complete a BUCS eligibility form. Detailed information will be required to complete this form, including confirmation from your university of your student status. We will share a link to this form as soon as it is finalised by BUCS. Athlete briefing - a selection briefing will take place 7pm, Monday 2 March. This annual briefing is an opportunity for athletes and coaches / mentors / parents to receive an update on the GBR team selection process, and to ask questions. Please use the link above to join the meeting. Questions can be submitted during the meeting, or in advance to Pippa Archer (parcher@britishorienteering.org.uk). For those who cannot make it, the meeting will be recorded and details shared.

Race entries – athletes targeting JWOC, EYOC, JEC or WUOC this summer are reminded that the closing date for entries to the Masterplan Adventure ‘Lakes Spring’ races is Sunday 8 March. All three races are selection races for JWOC, EYOC and JEC, whereas only the sprint and middle will be used as selection races for WUOC.

Embargoes – athletes are reminded to check the British Orienteering embargoes page for updates on which areas are embargoed for selection races. Additional details of areas embargoed for the 6 / 7 June WOC selection races will be added soon. Once these areas are finalised, an updated version of the selection policy will be circulated, highlighting any updated information about selection races.
