A new independent initiative has been launched with the aim of coordinating information to help UK-based elite orienteers access high-quality training opportunities. This is aimed at senior elite athletes, competing in M/W20/21E, who are not currently members of the GB Squad, but who have ambitions to improve their orienteering. Some opportunities may be in parallel with GB Squad training camps, while others may be organised independently.
This approach is being led by volunteers (Dom Green and Thomas Laraia), who will be coordinating with the British Orienteering Performance Programme (and others) as appropriate. Whilst this is an independent initiative, British Orienteering fully supports the aim of helping ambitious elite athletes access additional training opportunities and would like to thank Dom and Thomas for their roles in taking this forward for 2026.
