EYOC 2026: Sprint Results

25 June 2026

EYOC (European Youth Orienteering Championships) started today with the sprint race held in the town of Nova Gorica in western Slovenia. With hot temperatures and tricky courses featuring artificial barriers and plenty of route-choice challenges, the athletes were tested both physically and technically from the outset of the competition.

The Great Britain team produced a number of strong performances against a highly competitive European field, demonstrating composure and speed on demanding urban terrain. Top performances came from Lucy Ward, who had a fantastic run to finish 6th in W16, securing a place on the podium, whilst Marcus Perry finished 11th on M18.

"The course suited me, I like a tricky sprint, and I’m really happy with the result." - Lucy Ward.

"I really enjoyed the course, I thought it was a real test of who was the best orienteer. When I finished, I knew it was good, and I was proud of my performance, but to get that result and keep company with some of the really top juniors in Europe was so special." - Marcus Perry.
