Passionate about orienteering? Ready to inspire others? The British Orienteering Club Instructor Qualification is designed for affiliated club members who want to introduce newcomers to the sport in a safe, enjoyable, and supportive way.


We would like to invite you to take part in our upcoming training course at Nell Bank Centre, Denton Rd, Ilkley LS29 0DE, from Saturday 31 October - Sunday 1 November 2026.

Why become a Club Instructor?

  • Gain the skills and confidence to deliver fun introductory orienteering sessions.
  • Learn through a blend of 6 online learning modules and 12 hours of practical, hands-on training.
  • Receive a nationally recognised qualification with a supportive formative assessment process.
  • Help grow your club by welcoming and developing new participants.

Who can apply?

Anyone aged 16+ can attend the course (certification is awarded at age 18). Previous orienteering experience is helpful but not essential.
