Lead the Next Generation of British Orienteering Success

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a pivotal role at a time when British Orienteering continues to demonstrate its potential on the world stage. Recent international performances have seen Great Britain athletes competing successfully at both the World Orienteering Championships and Junior World Orienteering Championships, with a growing pipeline of talented athletes progressing through the pathway and representing the nation with distinction. Recent championships have highlighted the depth of talent emerging across the junior and senior ranks, creating an exciting platform for future success.  

As Performance Pathway Manager, you will provide strategic leadership for British Orienteering's Levels 3-5 Performance Pathway Programme, helping talented athletes develop towards international success while creating an environment where athletes, coaches, volunteers and stakeholders can thrive.   

The Opportunity 

This role offers a unique chance to influence the future of performance orienteering in Great Britain. 

Working closely with athletes, coaches, volunteers, British Orienteering staff and the Performance Pathway Steering Group, you will lead and coordinate the programme, ensuring that resources, plans and people are aligned behind a shared vision for success.  

Your initial focus will be to work collaboratively with the Performance Pathway Steering Group to review the programme's structure, resources and priorities, ensuring the pathway is positioned to achieve its ambitions over the coming years.

Experience within performance orienteering is desirable, as is a strong understanding of what it takes to develop athletes capable of competing at the highest international level.

Practical Information 

Role: Performance Pathway Manager 
Reporting to: Chief Executive  

Contract: 0.4 FTE (2 days per week)   

Remuneration: Terms to be agreed on a mutually beneficial basis.
