World Masters Orienteering Championships 2026 sees many of our members take podium places

The Championships provided a fantastic opportunity for orienteers from around the world to compete against the best in their age groups, and there were plenty of British performances to celebrate throughout the competition. With more than 100 GB entries, the strength and depth of British participation was evident across the wide range of age categories.

Sarah Rollins crowned World Champion

Sarah Rollins of Forth Valley Orienteers stole the show with a superb series of performances throughout the competition.

Sarah claimed silver in the W50A Middle Final, before going one step further in the Long Final to take gold and the World Champion title. 

Her performances across the week demonstrated remarkable consistency and ensured she finished the championships as one of the standout competitors.

Sprint Final

There were several British successes in the Sprint Final, with John Duckworth (M60A) and Judith Goodair (W85A) both taking World Championship titles.

There were further podium finishes for Keith Tonkin (M65A), Peter Gorvett (M75A), Rachel Kirkland (W55A) and Sarah Jane Barrable (W40A).

Middle Final

Sarah Rollins added another silver medal in W50A. Woo Allen also secured a second-place finish in W60A.

Long Final

Sarah Rollins (W50A) and Alice Bedwell (W50A) claimed the World Championship titles.

Looking ahead to 2027

The World Masters Orienteering Championships returns in 2027, with the next edition taking place in Hyogo, Japan, from 21–28 May.
