Historic market town centre park bounded on the north by the River Wansbeck. Some formal areas give way to the south to steep sided wooded approaches to the castle site and remaining gatehouse, with intervening stream valley. Many paths are wide and hard surfaced, level by the river but steeper to the south with long flights of steps as alternative climbs.
The park contains a play area and features the William Turner - Father of English Botany - memorial garden.
Railway Station 10 minutes walk. Bus Station 10 minutes walk. Many buses stop adjacent to the park entrance (Castle Square)
