Gedling Country Park is 580 acres of open space, footpaths and wildlife for you to enjoy with stunning views over the surrounding area, space to enjoy the outdoors with your family and friends, opportunities for exercise and activities and nature and wildness.

The Country Park has steep slopes although many paths are gently graded. The permanent course markers are on existing features such as seats and posts along paths.

Gedling Bypass Construction

Marker 7 is currently unavailable because of construction work.

Note that Lambley Lane is closed to through traffic from January 2021. Currently closed from 7 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday. Pedestrian routes from Lambley Lane Recreation Ground into Gedling Country Park will be maintained.

VOC Details

Use the MapRunF app, details are found on the Virtual Orienteering Page

Start the MapRun app when close to start, tap Events Near Me or Select Event and browse to UK/Nottinghamshire/Gedling Country Park. We suggest that you download and print the course map above that shows the virtual control locations, but you can just use the one on your phone.

The following MapRun courses are available:
•    Gedling 5 km
•    Gedling POC Very Easy
– 1.8 km
•    Gedling POC Easy – 2.3 km
•    Gedling POC Long – 4.0 km
•    Gedling POC Medium – 3.2 km
•    Gedling POC Score - A 120 -minute score course. 20 points per control, 10 points lost for every minute late.
Select the course and the map will appear.

Select Go to Start when ready.

When you are close to the Start (the triangle marked on the map) the phone will beep, the Start triangle changes to green and your time will begin.

There are no control markers on the ground, your phone will Upload your results, your position can be found under Gedling Country Park on the Smartphone Orienteering page of the Nottinghamshire Orienteering Club website
