|Club||North Gloucestershire Orienteering Club|
|Carpark location||On-street parking near the park (or closest public par park is at St Michael's Square)|
The course around this city park was installed in 2009. It has 14 control markers, which can be visited in any order. It's suitable for beginners, as the park is not complicated or very big. The map (downloadable here) contains details of where the controls are, where to start from, and how to show you've got them all.
To report problems, ask questions or for any other feedback, please contact North Gloucestershire Orienteering Club. The course was last checked in early June 2020. There are currently 3 markers missing, but they are marked as "missing" on the map and the letters from those markers are entered for you, while replacements are investigated.
Have you tried smartphone orienteering yet? You print out a map of your course, then run around it carrying your phone, with a free app that beeps each time you get to a checkpoint. There are no physical markers/posts because your phone records your arrival at each point using its GPS. Your results are uploaded and you can compare your times with other people who've done the course. There are plenty of local courses where you can give it a go. Most of these are around the streets and involve visiting as many points as you can in a 1-hour time limit, but there are a few other options too.
