The Permanent Orienteering Course
Start & Finish
At the end of the road, walk straight through the gap in the fence onto the grassed field and turn left. Follow the line of the trees and you will find the start post (red triangle on the map). This is also the finish point.
As this is a small area, there aren't any specific courses for you to follow. It is up to you to choose what you think is the best route around the 13 controls (known as a score event in orienteering). You will not cover more than 2 kilometres.
The controls are posts in the ground with red and white tops. Each numbered post is shown on the map as a red circle. When you arrive at a post, write down the letter code in the correct box on your control card.
The course has been planned by members of Deeside Orienteering Club. We cannot keep a constant eye on the area so the Club cannot be held responsible for any accidents, injuries, loss or damage.
Please note that the large yellow area on the map inside the fence around the schools and college are their playing fields and are out of bounds to the general public.
What to Wear?
Normal outdoor walking clothes and footwear. It may be muddy and you may encounter undergrowth. If wet, shoes with some grip are recommended.
