Hartshill Hayes Country Park is an undulating area of woodland with several tracks and paths and a variety of seasonal undergrowth.  The suggested Courses have been designed to be interesting and to encourage people to explore the park.

The small Car Park is clearly signed from a minor road (Oldbury Road).  There is a Visitor Centre with a cafe and toilets with limited opening times (Weekends, Bank Holidays and School Holidays from 11 am to 2.30 pm)

The Start and Finish of the 4 courses are very near to the Visitor Centre.  The suggested Courses are:  Short and Medium for those new to Orienteering, and Long and Score offer a challenge to the more experienced Orienteer.

The Course details are:  are Short (1.5km / 45m climb),  Medium (2,7km / 65m climb) and Long (3.9km / 120m climb).  The Score Course can cover all 24 controls. One map covers them all.

Please be aware that the woodland can be muddy with some exposed tree roots and standing water.

The Courses are open all the year round, but remember that there are seasonal variations in vegetation which affect visibility and run ability.
