The permanent orienteering and nature trail at Warmley Forest Park and Siston Common was installed by South Gloucestershire Council Wildways Project. The trail has 5 courses of different challenge levels and accompanying downloadable maps and information.

Each waymarker incorporates an engraved wildlife steel plaque (which can be used to take a rubbing) which illustrates a plant or animal found at the Forest Park as well as the traditional orienteering marker system. This makes the trail ideal for people of all ages including families, schools groups as well as both experienced and novice orienteers. The trails range from 0.6km – 3.2km in length as well as the opportunity to devise your own routes by using the downloadable teachers and group leaders notes and maps.

The trails take in a number of different habitats within the forest park, including woodland, grassland, orchard and hedgerows and helps visitors to learn about the wildlife that lives there.

The trail was developed by the Wildways Project in partnership with the Bristol Orienteering Klub (BOK), pupils and staff from Warmley Park schoolThe Conservation Volunteers and Community Payback. The Wildways project is funded by the Big Lottery Access to Nature programme which is managed by Natural England.
