Details

Description:Mixed, very undulating woodland with path network. Bestwood is appropriately named, being the best surviving area of ancient woodland close to Nottingham. Its orienteering is also some of the best with a complex area of valleys and spurs making an interesting challenge at all levels of the sport. Much of the area is oak woodland which are particularly beautiful in late autumn. Spurs and re-entrants covered with a mostly deciduous woodland and a non-rectilinear path network.
