Description: | Mulgrave Woods provide varied and challenging terrain, and have previously been used for a National Event, JK 1996 and the 2007 British Middle Distance Championships. The area consists of mixed woodland set in two parallel valleys overlooked from the central spur by a ruined castle. The woodland varies from manicured ornamental parkland, old arboretum and well-managed commercial monoculture to unmanaged broadleaf woodland. The valley sides can be steep, with plenty of contour detail, enabling a physical and technical challenge for most competitors. A good network of tracks and paths loop around the valleys via bridges and a tunnel. Mulgrave was recently used for the Acorn events in 2011 and 2014.
