As we patiently wait for Spring to kick in, it can be tricky to encourage our young people to get outside and explore.
Luckily, we have just the activities to motivate them (and you!) to still enjoy their natural surroundings. Take a look at all the ways you can get involved with orienteering this holiday below.
Did you know that many of your local parks, green spaces and urban areas are actually mapped with orienteering courses?
Head over to the Go Orienteering website, where you will find thousands of courses that are available to download or access via the MapRun app.
The image above shows you what you will be looking out for as you complete your course.
If you have a go and decide you love it, why not sign up for free as a Digital Member to gain access to all the local courses in your area!
Check out local orienteering events that are newcomer- and family-friendly, taking place this week and beyond!
Remember that you don't need to be a member of a club to try the sport out!
Attending one of these events is great because a club member or volunteer will be able to introduce you to everything you need to get started!
We pride ourselves as being a sport for everyone, no matter what your age or ability.
You don't need the latest sports gear to get started, a good pair of trainers or even wellies will do!
Navigate courses at your own pace and in your own time while exploring a wide array of locations from local parks, green spaces and forested areas.
By encouraging your family to work together to accomplish a course, it's a great way to work together, bond and build on those navigation skills.
However you decide to try out orienteering for the first time, make sure you have fun together!
Don't forget that we offer family membership packages if you are interested in signing up and becoming a member. You can find out all about our family membership via this link. Or join us today using the button below.
