There are many orienteering events organised for juniors at school, club and country level.
There are two annual national Schools Orienteering Championships:
The British Schools Orienteering Championship (BSOC) is hosted by a region or club in the middle of November. The courses are event based on the cross country format but are designed to be appropriate standard and length for schools. Full details of the rules of the competition can be found here.
The British Schools Score Championships BSSC are hosted by a local club in early October. This event is designed to give schools the opportunity to take part in a different type of competition. Full details of the rules of the competition can be found here.
Any school is welcome to enter a team to compete at either event, subject to the children being able to read an orienteering map competently and be confident in using basic navigational techniques and to have competed in at least three orienteering events at the appropriate standard for their age.
