Gilwell Reunion 2019 - Teaching Orienteering Course

Gilwell Reunion, 6th - 8th September 2019 is an event for adults in Scouting to come together from around the world. You can gain new skills at our workshops and training sessions, pick up ideas for your programme and enjoy a weekend of activities and entertainment. #Skillsforlife. It's an event to say thank you for all your hard work.

This year is 93rd Gilwell Reunion and the 100th year of Gilwell Park.

The event starts on Friday 6th September and finishes on Sunday 8th September 2019 and offers a jam-packed programme of activities.

Each year the event has interactive workshops and seminars, inspirational talks, permit assessments, a faith walk with activity ideas for spiritual development and lots more.

Including a Teaching Orienteering Part 1 Course – on Saturday 7th September 09:30 - 17:00.

The only prerequisite is that you must be over 16 years of age - but prior experience of Orienteering would be an advantage. You will be provided with the knowledge to introduce the basic skills of orienteering and be given the opportunity to discuss and practice using this knowledge. The course is 6 hours and practical in nature. Learning outcomes of the training include introducing young people to orienteering in a safe way, planning sessions and using maps. This course is not assessed; following the training candidates will receive a certificate of attendance.
