World Orienteering Day has started today and runs throughout this week!

Wednesday 11 May - Tuesday 17 May 2022

Today is the start of World Orienteering Day, which will see orienteering events taking place worldwide, including here in the UK across a whole week!

In the UK, orienteering events are taking place throughout today and this week.

The events are being held various locations such as in cities, parks, forests, and school playgrounds, and people of all ages and fitness abilities are welcome to take part.

Local orienteering clubs across the country are encouraging newcomers to “have a go!” and try the sport of orienteering. Maybe you have already tried orienteering during your school years, or maybe you have never heard of orienteering and don't know much about the sport.  Contacting your local club is a great way to find out more about getting started. To find out more and to contact your nearest local orienteering club click on the link here and select the region in which you live for a full list of clubs in your area.

This list shows all the planned World Orienteering Day club activities and events taking place across the UK.

Other orienteering activities, such as Permanent and Virtual (Smart phone /GPS) Coursescan be found here: www.britishorienteering.org.uk/goorienteering

There are also events listed on the world map - click on the UK and find more events near you here. See where the events are taking place across the world.

We would love to hear of your orienteering experiences during World Orienteering Week 2022.
Throughout the week it would be great if you could help us to generate some momentum via social media using #WorldOrienteeringDay and mentioning British Orienteering or @GBROrienteering and post your photos and tell us how you are enjoying taking part.
