Pendle Forest Orienteers win Club of the Year at Active Burnley Awards

A big congratulations to all members at Pendle Forest Orienteers on winning Club of the Year at the Active Burnley Awards presented by the legendary Eddie 'the Eagle' Edwards!

Great result for all the hard work that has gone on within the club. Well Done. ?

Pendle Forest Orienteers win Active Burnley Award - Club of the Year

Judith Wood, Chair of Pendle Forest Orienteers, said:  "We were thrilled to be nominated for the Club Of The Year Award as there has been much hard work by many of our members in the past 12 months to get the Burnley community more active through orienteering. We made a conscious effort as a club in 2021 that our community development activities should focus more on the areas of Burnley and Pendle following the great response we have had in Rossendale in 2020 which we still see the benefits of to this date.

Joining up with Alexis Turner, Beat The Street Engagement Officer after the game had visited Burnley in September 2021 has opened up many doors for the club. We have been a great team together in being able to create, promote and deliver orienteering activities to people of all ages and backgrounds who we may not have ever connected with without them.

Being at the awards was inspirational in itself but to win the award and be recognised for all our hard work was amazing, especially as we got to share the experience with 10 of the members who have been instrumental in the clubs’ efforts. We could have filled the table three times over with the amount of support our club members have given behind the scenes and this award is for all of them. We’re looking forward to building on our success and the great work and support Active Burnley has given us as a club and have plenty of events lined up together."
