Job Vacancy – British Orienteering Communications Officer

British Orienteering has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a part time Communications Officer.

Orienteering is an exhilarating outdoor sport that continues to grow and thrive across the UK. This is your chance to join an organisation full of opportunity and excitement as we look forward to the 2024 World Orienteering Championships and delivery of a new strategic plan.

Reporting directly to the Change Manager, the successful applicant will be required to demonstrate they are a committed and hard-working person who is passionate about ensuring the effective and timely delivery of the communications function of British Orienteering and its various activities to its membership and partners.

We welcome applications from individuals with experience of communications and social media strategies and who is an effective communicator, able to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

Principle duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Create, coordinate and publish engaging content across our media platforms,
  • Collaborate across the team to maximise promotion and raise awareness of our various programmes/ initiatives,
  • Review and develop our communications strategy,
  • Co-ordinate and develop our image library.

The post is 0.5 FTE with the potential to have a flexible approach to working hours. This post is a part-time role currently fixed term, subject to further funding. Our head office is based near Matlock in Derbyshire, and this role will require a mix of office and homeworking.
