The first qualifying rounds were held on Sunday 13 February 2022, in some very difficult weather conditions. The organising clubs West Cumberland, Quantock, Harlequins and West Anglia, and their volunteers are to be congratulated on making the events happen when gales and heavy rain prevailed, which also made completing courses challenging for the competitors who have made some very positive comments on social media.

In the West Midlands, North Gloucester defeated Octavian Droobers, regular finalists, making the Final for the first time since 2017. Bristol and Swansea Bay qualified in the South West. The East Anglia round was a Trophy-only event with West Anglia and Norwich qualifying. In the North West, West Cumberland, placed third in the 2020 Final were defeated by Lakeland by only 6 points, the closest match of the day. Last year's Trophy winners South Ribble qualified and also Border Liners.
