Day 3: Volunteers' Week (1-7 June): Thank You to Evan Bowers (Sheffield University Orienteering Club)

Each day of Volunteers’ Week 2022 British Orienteering will take the time to say thank you to volunteers across the UK and put them in the Thank You spotlight.

Young people have a huge impact in their clubs and local communities. Today, we are focusing on the role of youth volunteering in the daily lives of individuals and within our clubs. Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are leading change now in clubs in the UK.

Volunteers' Week continues with a huge 'Thank You' to Evan Bowers Club Captain of Sheffield University Orienteering Club.

In the 'Thank You Spotlight' is....

Evan Bowers

Evan Bowers (Sheffield University Orienteering Club). As Club Captain, Evan has worked extremely hard to navigate the club through such a difficult period for all university clubs, in terms of looking after their existing members, recruiting new students, running events and training sessions through the changing regulations, and keeping the club going financially. The club was awarded the Digital Engagement award in the 2021 Sheffield University Sports Awards for finding ways to engage with its members. Sheffield is hosting this year's British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) and Evan have dedicated himself wholeheartedly to making the event a success. Evan has managed all of this whilst also pursuing his demanding dentistry studies and is always enthusiastic, supportive, and available to answer questions and sort out problems.

British Orienteering would like to express our thanks and gratitude to you Evan for all the hard work, energy, and commitment you have given and continue to put into your club and to the sport of orienteering. Your dedication and thoughtfulness to club members and newcomers are certainly incredible. Thank you so much for all you do!
