GB Team Announced for World Orienteering Championships 2023

The 2023 World Orienteering Championships will be taking place next month in Flims Laxx, Switzerland, which is set to offer an unforgettable and challenging competition in the impressive nature of the mountains.

After a good start at World Cup Round 1 in Norway, the team have been preparing for the World Orienteering Championships, which this year consists of all Forest Races.

The team has recently returned from the selection races in the Flims Laxx and Scoul area, where Megan Carter-Davies had impressive results across the three-day competition, ranking 5th in the Long Distace and 7th and 8th in the two middle competitions. Ralph Street also just missed the top ten in the Men’s Race finishing 12th.

Grace Molloy who is studying in America, travelled over to compete and showed that she was in good form finishing 8th in one of the Middle Races. The more experienced senior athletes, Cecile Andersen and Jo Shepherd also raced well, as well as Joshua Dudley who received his first World Ranking point in May at World Cup 1.

The selected team will travel to Switzerland on the 6 July to move into the competition accommodation for their final preparations for the Championships. The competition schedule can be found below:

12th July – Middle Qualification

13th July – Long Distance

14th – Rest

15th July – Middle Final

16th – Relay
