British Orienteering is pleased to announce the new squads for the 2023 /2024 season.

To aid the process, a new initiative has been introduced for this season, which meant that athletes have been asked to apply for squad spots via an expression of interest application. Following detailed individual athlete reviews, the coaching team has now finalised their selections.

The total squad numbers have been slightly adapted when compared to last season. For this season we have 55 athletes in the L3 squad, 26 athletes in the L4 squad and 15 athletes in the L5 squad. Furthermore, 12 athletes (mainly of L4 and L5 ages) have been highlighted as ‘wild card’ athletes and will be invited to a number of squad activities on a self -funded basis.

We wish the athletes and coaches a great start to the season and best of success for the upcoming races.

The GBR squads will be focusing both on the long-term development of our juniors and young seniors to become our regular senior athletes of the future, while our seniors will be training hard to race at our home WOC in July 2024.
