British Orienteering are pleased to announce the 2022 Continued Contribution to Orienteering Award winner as Ernie Williams from Leicestershire Orienteering Club.
This award recognises and celebrates the volunteer efforts of those in our sport who contribute greatly, often behind the scenes, over an extended period of time. This would be ideal for a long-standing club or association committee member for example.
Ernie has been the LEI club President for several decades. In all, he has contributed over 40 years of voluntary roles within British Orienteering, including Grade B Controller, being a member of the Technical Committee, Rules Group, and is currently a member of the E&CC with responsibility for event officials.
He was Assistant Organiser at both JK 2004 (based in the Lake District) and JK 2014 in South Wales and his affectionate attention to detail has led him to being renowned for producing newly crafted Christmas cards annually to many orienteering members.
Congratulations to Ernie and a huge thank you for your continued contribution to orienteering. You can learn more about Leicestershire Orienteering Club on their website.
We would also like to congratulate all our nominess for the Continued Contribution to Orienteering Award. Your continued efforts to help promote the world of orienteering do not go unnoticed:
