Find Your Way Summer Event Series 2023

Throughout this summer, a number of clubs are hosting Find Your Way Project events. It's the perfect way for you to get the family together (or just out and about!) and explore your local area through exciting and adventurous virtual orienteering.

West Yorkshire

First up we have East Pennine Orienteering Club who are hosting an event at Beaumont Park in Huddersfield on 2 August. Take in the sights of the picturesque woodland as you navigate your way through their course. In September they host their second event in Beechwood Park, a local nature reserve in Halifax where you may be able to spot roe deer!

Dorset

Based in South West England? Why not try out one of the events that Wessex Orienteering Club and Wimborne Orienteers are putting on? Durlston Park stands in stunning surroundings, with the opportunity to spot wildlife while you orienteer! Meyrick Park is the perfect location for those based near or around Bournmouth Town Centre and are looking to orienteer in an open plan space. Finally, head to Boscombe to orienteer at Kings and Queens Park to explore the woodland and green space.

Derbyshire

Did you know that Arboretum Park was classified as Britain's first public park? Well now you do, consider taking the opportunity to explore it through an orienteering course! In addition, why not explore Derby's largest open public space – Allestree Park which boasts some of the best views in Derby overlooking the Derwent Valley. Learn more on Derwent Valley Orienteers website.

Airedale/ Wharfedale

Airienteers are pleased to have secured three dates in August to host orienteering events at the below locations. Whether you chose to explore the park and woodland of Nunroyd, enjoy the open space of Bramley Park, or capture great views of Kirkstall Valley Nature Reserve from Armley Park – join them at one of their events this summer.

South East London/ Kent

Start the bank holiday weekend right by getting outdoors and taking part in an orienteering course! Together, Dartford Orienteering Klubb and Saxons Orienteering are putting on three events covering Gravesend, Shorne and Dover. Absorb the fantastic views of Dover Castle and Western Heights from High Meadow; run through the woodlands, meadows and orchards of Jeskyns or embrace the woodlands, wetlands and meadows of Shorne Woods.

Whether you are trying out orienteering for the first time, want to do something together with the family – we hope that you can make some of the local events that these clubs have put on over the summer period. Remember they can be done in your pace in your own time, you can walk, run or just enjoy exploring the great outdoors!

To find out more about each event, please visit the relevant club's website.
