Details:We're thrilled to be attending the Bristol Running Show on 28 April 2024 at the BAWA Club in Filton. Inside, we'll be meeting and greeting at your stall as you'd expect, while outside we'll be running a short taster orienteering course for visitors to try out. Running is an important part of orienteering, but orienteering is about more than running. Your 'race route' is only marked out on the ground using flags (controls) placed in various locations. It's your job to find and follow the route between the controls using the map that you pick up at the start. The aim is to get round as quickly and accurately as you can. Our free, accessible taster course will be less than 3km in total and will take in the BAWA grounds, nearby parks and urban areas. Don't worry if you're new — we'll be there to show you the ropes before you head off! But as a heads-up: Meet us at the start banner to collect a map and "dibber" (a small timing card you attach to your finger) "Punch" the start control and use the map to find all the subsequent controls Can you sprint round and not get lost? Or do you just fancy a jog with some added mental challenge? It's up to you. End up back at the finish, collect your time and let us know how you got on. Later we'll circulate some results so you can see how you got on against the rest of the Bristol Running Show competition...
