Details
| Description: | Part of BOK's Urban Series, with 10 events held most Wednesday evenings from late April to early July. Short, Medium and Long courses available. Best 6 results on each course score for series prizes, with separate male and female competitions. There is also a Junior Sprint course, which is confined within the Recreation Ground and is suitable for unaccompanied young juniors (U16). This is shorter and less technical than ideal because of constraints of the site, and road crossings and hazards elsewhere including the unfenced river. The Short course is suitable for adult beginners; help and advice will be available on the day. BOF rules state that Juniors U16 on the day of the competition are not permitted to compete unaccompanied on courses that require competitors to cross roads. Unfortunately, this means that U16s can only enter the Junior Sprint course. |

| Course description: | Map: 1:5,000 scale with 2.5m contours Map updated Spring 2026 by Louise and Jeremy Tonge and Chris Johnson. Waterproof A3, with courses overprinted. (the map for the Junior course may be smaller) Loose control descriptions will be available at the start Newcomers are asked to familiarise themselves with uncrossable features and out of bounds symbols. (Help is available at registration) Terrain: A mixture of paved areas, footpaths, residential streets and urban parks. Road shoes with good grips (but not spikes), running shorts and vests should be suitable. Please be careful, especially when running alongside or across roads and, as we are sharing the city with non-orienteers, be mindful that not everyone will be aware of the exigencies of orienteering so show others due care and attention. We are all ambassadors for the sport of orienteering so don’t risk your or someone else’s safety for the sake of a few seconds. |
