| Parking information: | Assembly and car parking are at Priory Community School Academy, North Worle, Weston-super-Mare, BS22 6BP. Parking is in the gravel carpark at the front of the school (turn right on entry through the school gates) and any other free car parking spaces in front of the school once that is full. There is a one way system in operation, please enter from Queensway https://what3words.com/multiple.notifying.surfacing and leave via Wansborough Road. Important: if leaving the carpark before the end of the event, exit with extreme caution as the Junior course crosses the carpark exit. If the school car park is full when you arrive, there is also a large retail outlet on the other side of the roundabout https://what3words.com/mute.schooling.dragonfly, which has free parking for 3 hours; please use the underpass when walking back to the school. Assembly and download will be in classroom L2. Follow signs/tapes from the car park. |

| Description: | Part of BOK's Urban Series, with 10 events held most Wednesday evenings from late April to early July. Short, Medium and Long courses available. Best 6 results on each course score for series prizes, with separate male and female competitions. For this event there will also be a Junior course. Juniors (under 16) can only compete on the Junior course. The Junior course is mainly within parkland to the northeast of the school and includes running along some pavements, but there will be no busy roads to cross. The Short course should be suitable for adult beginners orienteering either as individuals or as part of a group. The Junior course, as the name suggests, should be suitable for Juniors, and families, with little or no prior experience of orienteering but a willingness to come along and have a go at the sport. A sense of direction is advisable or failing that, an ability to use a compass. |

Courses
| Course description: | Map: The map “Worle and St. Georges” is 1:5,000 with 5 m contours produced by John Parfitt and updated in 2026. The map will be waterproof size A3 with courses overprinted. Loose control descriptions will be available (symbols for Long, Medium and Short; text for Junior course). Newcomers are advised to familiarise themselves with uncrossable features and out of bounds (OOB) symbols: https://www.maprunner.co.uk/map-symbols/. If in doubt, ask. Terrain: Urban footpaths, residential streets, playing fields and other grass/unpaved areas. Road shoes with good grips (but not spikes), running shorts and vests should be suitable. The longer courses will have route choices which may include busy roads and roads with no pavements in some places and running towards potential oncoming traffic. There are some rhynes (drainage ditches) in the open parkland area to the northeast of the school. Do not attempt to cross these. Participants on all except the Junior course will cross busy roads and are reminded not to take undue risk when crossing. |
