Courses

Course description:Map: 1:7500 scale. 5m contours. Limited map updates have been possible – please be aware that small paths do come and go as the area is used by mountain bikers. All controls have been checked for fairness and map relevance! Terrain: The area consists of mixed woodland in part on a steep slope and many tracks and paths to the north of the road, with semi open intricate quarry workings, surrounded by runnable woodland to the south of the road. The area is generally very runnable, but there are some areas of undergrowth, thick to impassable in places. The steeper paths can be very slippery after rain. In wet conditions shoes with good grip will be essential. Full leg cover is compulsory. 1 hr Score course – in Odds and Evens format. Start with either odd numbered or even numbered controls and collect as many as you wish before switching over to the other side of the map – once you have switched you cannot switch back. Points available 600 – 300 on odds and 300 on evens. Penalty 1 point per 6 seconds over time – a bonus of 1 point per 6 seconds if you clear all the controls and finish under time. There will be a loop of controls for beginners with controls on or very close to paths – we suggest 101, 103, 105, – 106, 104, 102 or vice versa. There are several controls close to this route “just off the path” – be brave!
