Details
| Description: | Part of BOK's Urban Series, held most Wednesday evenings from late April to early July. Short, Medium and Long courses available. Best 6 results on each course score for series prizes, with separate male and female competitions. Juniors (under 16) can only compete on the Junior Sprint course. The Junior Sprint will be largely confined to the Three Brooks nature reserve, which is an area of woodland, hedgerows and paths in Bradley Stoke. It has a lake, brooks, pond areas, a community orchard and wildflower meadows and so will not entail interacting with any busy roads. The Short course should also be suitable for adult beginners orienteering either as individuals or as part of a group. The Junior Sprint, as the name suggests, should be suitable for Juniors, and families, with little or no prior experience of orienteering but a willingness to come along and have a go at the sport. A sense of direction is advisable or failing that, an ability to use a compass. |

Courses
| Course description: | Map: 1:5,000 scale with 2.5m contours. Updated in 2025 by Mike Forrest. Waterproof size A3 with courses overprinted. Loose control descriptions will also be available. Newcomers are advised to familiarise themselves with uncrossable features and out of bounds symbols. (Ask registration) Loose control descriptions will also be available. Terrain: Urban footpaths, residential streets and other grass/unpaved areas. Road shoes with good grips (but not spikes), running shorts and vests should be suitable. The longer courses (not the Junior Sprint) will have route choices which may include busy roads and roads with limited pavements in some places. Participants must take extra care for road traffic when running on roads where there is limited to no pavement, and not take undue risk when crossing, particularly on blind corners or busy roads. |
